The Medal for Long and Faithful Service in the Militia was established by Royal Decree on 5 December 1851 to recognise honourable, long-standing and active service by non-commissioned officers and rank-and-file members of the Militia. It has not been awarded since 1907.
After 20 years’ loyal service, the Medal for Loyal Service to the Militia could be worn with a gold-plated ring, a commemorative crown and a wreath of olive and oak leaves; after 30 years’ loyal service, one was entitled to wear a fully gold-plated badge of honour.
