The Cross for Marching Proficiency was established in 1909 to recognise those who had completed the four-day marches. The Cross for Marching Proficiency is also known as the Four-Day Cross.
A green enamelled shield bearing the numbers 12 to 24 in gold indicates the 12th to 24th grant.
The Cross for Mars Proficiency is still awarded today and is listed in the decree on the order of precedence for honours, as laid down by the Minister of the Interior.
