Medal of Honour

The Medal of Merit was established on 16 April 1987 to recognise those who have achieved exceptional feats or rendered exceptional service to the Dutch armed forces. Originally, it comprised only the gold and silver classes. In 2017, the bronze class was added. The Medal of Merit was designed by Willem Vis.

The Order of Merit comprises gold, silver and bronze classes. The honour is still awarded today and is listed in the order of precedence for honours laid down by the Minister of the Interior.
