The Resistance Cross, small model, was established by Royal Decree on 3 May 1946 to recognise exceptional courage and prudence displayed in the resistance against the enemies of the Dutch cause and in the defence of freedom of thought.
The Resistance Cross was awarded in large and small versions; the former was awarded posthumously to the bereaved, the latter to survivors. The small version was struck at the Royal Mint; the dies were engraved by L.O. Wenkenbach.
