The Military Order of William was established by the Act of 30 April 1815 to reward those who have distinguished themselves in battle through outstanding acts of courage, wisdom and loyalty. The Order comprises four classes: Knight Grand Cross, Commander, Knight 3rd Class and Knight 4th Class.
The Military Order of William is still awarded today and is listed in the decree on the order of precedence for honours, as laid down by the Minister of the Interior.
